With just a handful of starters returning, this will be a fairly young group for the Fliers this season. They have some good numbers though, especially in the upperweights, creating a competitive atmosphere in the room as the team looks to grow, improve, and take the program a step forward.
The Fliers do return four starters from last season's team in the lower half of the lineup in Nathaniel Levie, Emanuel Jackson, and Edgar Toraraba, all sophomores, and junior Thomas Lowe. Levie is coming a nice rookie year in which he won 18 bouts and advanced to the Regions after placing 3rd in the District. Lowe, Jackson, and Toraraba are all looking to build off of last year's experience and taking the next step forward, while also providing some leadership to the newcomers looking to break in to the lineup.
Just one starter returns in the upper half of the lineup in junior Isaias Thomas-Palafox. There are a few wrestlers back that did get some varsity experience in last year that will look to build off that. It is an otherwise very young group that, if they put the work in, can lay the foundation for a very solid group of upperweights for the years to come for the Fliers.
As mentioned, there isn't a lot of experience returning, but the Fliers do have some good young pieces in place, and are working hard to improve each day, while looking to improve upon last year's win total. The schedule has a some challenging dates, especially with the A-North slate, but the team will look to get better with the tough competition to set them up for more wins as the season goes.
